Behemoth Breakfast Burrito of Champions :

Oct 22, 2007

Looking for an eye-opener that’ll clog your arteries? Maybe you want more fat by 10 a.m. than most people eat all day? If city breakfast has become boring with its yogurt and fruit parfaits and low-cal granola bars, then it’s time to break out the banjo, loosen your belt and belly up to Hardee’s newest morning monstrosity – the Country Breakfast Burrito.

Weighing in at a whopping 920 calories and 60 grams of fat, this hearty start to your day will crush the competition (and your calorie counting) with its massive girth.

And to make it portable (because who has time to sit down and eat a behemoth like that in the early hours) it’s all wrapped inside a flour tortilla.

I’m excited about the chance to start my day like my country farming forefathers, but I couldn’t help but wonder what the experts would say about this breakthrough in breakfast excess?

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, which called the Monster Thickburger “food porn,” was not as keen on the country-style breakfast as I was. Their senior nutritionist called the burrito “another lousy invention by a fast-food company.” She further explained that eating it would account for half a day’s calories and a full day's worth of saturated fat and salt.

She obviously didn’t get it, so I asked eDiets Senior Supervisor of Nutrition Support Tracey Ryan her opinion on the new massive morning meal.
