Celebrity Smiles :

Sep 07, 2007

When you think of celebrities, you probably envision them with gleaming, glowing smiles. Big toothy grins like Julia Roberts. Sweetly seductive smirks like Hugh Grant. And so-bright-you-can-see-yourself-in-them large teeth like Hilary Duff.

Hilary Duff, of course, possesses one of the most famous (or perhaps infamous would be more apt) sets of celebrity teeth, thanks to her recent acquisition of veneers. Other stars may have had cosmetic dentistry, but poor Hilary, for reasons unknown, spilled the truth to various magazines about her glossy new teeth.

In addition to veneers, other popular Beverly Hills and New York City celebrity teeth treatments include in-office teeth whitening procedures, gum lifts (which solves cosmetic issues such as uneven gums), dental implants, so-called invisible adult braces and, ahem, the traditional diamond in your front tooth. Created at the University of Washington in association with scientists and engineers, this power toothbrush uses ultrasound waveguide technology. It sounds goofy to say that I’ve fallen in love with a toothbrush -- but I really do love how clean it makes my teeth feel. I can also tell the difference in how white my teeth look.

  • The Crest SpinBrush for Kids: When I travel, I used to grab my little manual toothbrush and, well, sort of neglect to use it in the hotel. I was in the drugstore hunting for toothpaste when I came across these too-cute cool designs that Crest has created. Battery-operated, the toothbrush is easy to pack and fun to use. They can package it as “for kids,” but I like its small size and convenience. (And yes, I also love kids’ bubble-gum-flavored toothpaste!)
