High Style, Low Maintenance :Sep 07, 2007You might think that you’re not "high maintenance" mainly because of the negative connotations that surround the phrase. But ask yourself these questions: If you answered "yes" to any or all of the questions, you’re probably more high-maintenance than you think. Don’t worry, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but consider how much time your beauty routine takes. More than you would like? Read on for tips on how to minimize your routine and maximize your look . From high to low maintenance HAIR: Flat iron, blow-dry, gloss, dye, curl -- we’re all guilty of over-indulging our hair. And whether you have a little or a lot, we all know it can be a time-consuming process. The key to getting fabulous hair fast is to have a plan of attack. First, if your hair has a natural wave try to blow dry the bottom and top sections and leave the middle to dry naturally. This will give you the tousled, just-got-out-of-bed look without the frantic frizziness that can often happen from over-drying. Rejoice, hairdressers have unanimously decided that it is not good to wash your hair everyday! However, if you’re worried about looking like an oil slick, fear not. In between washes take a small amount of baby powder and rub it on your roots. Then, flip your head over and give a quick blow-dry to increase volume, top with a bit of gentle hold hairspray and you’re on your way out the door. From high to low maintenance STYLE: High-maintenance girls can go style overboard thinking they need the newest, hottest outfit for everyday of the week. However, real style develops from knowing how to work with what you already have. Try to reduce impulse purchasing by sticking to staples such as a black pencil skirt, a nice pair of dark wash jeans and a little black dress. There’s nothing wrong with a classic, but it can be boring day after day. The key to high style with minimal effort and minimal price is…accessorizing. A chunky necklace, a vintage belt or chic hat can transform any outfit from dull to dashing. Try different combinations and throw in some bold colors for added style! From high to low maintenance MAKEUP: The key to low maintenance makeup is to downsize on products. Find a product that is versatile and that can be used in more ways than one. We all know makeup is a godsend -- even natural beauties can use a bit -- but when it comes to applying makeup, repeat this mantra: Less is more. |
