Have a Back-Up Fitness Plan :Aug 16, 2007When it comes to excuses for failing to exercise, I’m the winner. Some of my best excuses are: If those excuses sound familiar, I’ve got good news for those of you who are really ready to shape up : There are plenty of energetic options for burning up those excess calories! On the Road Again? Turn your exercise into a family activity! Invite everyone (even Great Uncle Fred) to go for a walk to the park, or pack up nieces and nephews and take them with you to the roller skating rink. Everyone’s a winner ! (If it’s a business trip, you just may find a colleague or customer who would love to join you on a vigorous hike-and-work action-packed afternoon.) Choose a hotel with a health club or fitness room on-site. An increasing number of hotels throughout the world are tuning into consumers’ desire for fitness. If the hotel lacks such a facility, ask about a nearby gym (Tip: Sometimes you’ll even be given a complimentary day or week pass). Take it with you. We’re talkin’ cords, bands, exercise videos -- all those easily packed, lightweight goodies that can be toted anywhere. If the hotel room lacks a VCR, ask them to bring you one (they’re usually available free or for a small fee). Pop in that video, and get ready to boogie. |
