Barbara B. may not be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive or able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but this supermom single-handedly saved her family from the dangers of obesity.

There wasn't much Barbara, 41, wouldn't do for her three children. So when her oldest son began struggling with his weight, the motivated mom waged a war against fat and vowed to change ALL her unhealthy habits. In a sense, she became a slimming superhero who transformed from roll model to role model. With loving hubby Daniel at her side, Barbara joined eDiets in July 2003. Over the past year, Barbara watched her weight drop from 235 to 149 pounds. No more size-24 clothes for her -- Supermom now slips comfortably into a size 12 or 14.

The speech pathologist from Louisiana has spread the joy of healthy living. Her husband has dropped 45 pounds of his own and the kids are eating better than ever.

Instead of the fast-food track to obesity, the family is now on the fast track to good health .

"As a family, we ate a lot," Barbara confesses to eDiets. "We ate hamburgers, pizza and a lot of Mexican. We’ve always been a meat-and-potatoes family. Vegetables and water weren’t part of our diet. Things are different now."

For starters, Barbara and crew still dine out, but now they make healthier choices. Instead of hitting a fast-food joint while working, Barbara and her nurse mate pack their own lunches. Barbara uses the weekends to cook ahead and freezes various dishes for the upcoming week. Each container is labeled by name and calorie count. Barbara says she’s yet to try an eDiets meal she didn’t like.

"The different flavors are amazing," she raves. "Everything tastes so good. My husband prefers not to eat out because the food I cook tastes so much better. The way the recipes are set up, nothing is difficult. I even modify my own recipes so they are now low calorie and healthy. eDiets taught me how to look at things. I can figure out how many calories are in everything!"
