Ultra Carb :Mar 28, 2007
Pro: Ultra Carb Blocker 2000 works two ways: 1 - It helps to stop complex carbohydrates or starches from being broken down. 2 - It prevents glucose or sugar from being converted into fat. This combination results in excess carbohydrates passing through the body instead of being turned into fat. Ultra Carb Blocker 2000 ingredients: Chromium polynicotinate......................................100 mcg Proprietary Blend:.................................................200 mg Phaseolus Vulgaris - It is derived from the extract of northern white kidney beans. It inhibits Alpha-amylase, an enzyme which is needed by carbohydrates to become glucose. Instead of being broken down, the carbohydrates are excreted, meaning that there is no new glycogen to convert to fat. Gymnema Sylvestre- It blocks the transformation of excess glycogen into fat by binding with the enzyme necessary for this reaction, which is called 'Acetyl Coenzyme A'. Gymnema helps stop the conversion of glycogen, tones the blood and strengthens the body. Other Ingredients include: Gelatin, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, and Purified Water. Con: Claims by producers and supporters of "carb blocker" pills and supplements have not been supported by studies done by the established medical community. Long-term success is uncommon due to several factors including the fact many people take the pills at the expense of the sensible strategies of decreased fat consumption and increased exercise. Common sense can make anyone a weight loss supplement expert: if these products really were effective in the long-term (3-5 years and beyond) and without side-effects, they would be impossible to avoid in our overweight society and would be sold prominently in every grocery store and pharmacy. They would create a revolution in our society. This is not happening. Sorry to preach, but basic nutrition (Food Guide Pyramid), recommended by most registered dietitions, along with addition of daily exercise to your life is really the only strategy that works in the long-term. I am a much bigger fan of lifestyle exercise activities such as tennis, hiking, walking, cycling, dancing, climbing, etcetera... These are the type of activities that you don't think of as exercise and sustain themselves in the long-term. Add a basic food program or one of the simple and inexpensive online programs for structure and support, and you have the best possible option for success. Learn more about Carb Blockers
